Farpoint Energy

One product family, one job at a time.

We build power transformers for the interconnection. The FP-MPT family covers 50 and 100 MW blocks at 115 and 138 kV in four standard configurations, each engineered ahead of time to the requirements interconnecting utilities actually issue — BIL, impedance windows, taps, sound, seismic. A quote comes back as a clause-by-clause compliance matrix, and we're able to commit, when you sign the order, to an actual delivery date.

Beyond the standard line, every unit is engineered to your specification: generator step-up, substation, and auto transformers to 250 MVA and 230 kV, for renewable, storage, data center, industrial, and utility projects.

Product line

Four families, one standard

Standard line

FP-MPT main power transformers

Four standard configurations for 50 and 100 MW interconnection blocks: 30/40/50 and 60/80/100 MVA, 115 and 138 kV high side, 34.5 kV low side, three-stage cooling, inverter duty per IEEE C57.110 and C57.159. Fully specified, with the options interconnecting utilities most often require.

Engineered to order

Generator step-up transformers

Step-up units for renewable, storage, and thermal generation, to 250 MVA and 230 kV. Rated to the generator or inverter output, with impedance to your system study and the low-side connection your collector or generator design calls for.

Engineered to order

Substation transformers

Step-down units for utility, industrial, and data center substations, 69–230 kV high side and 4.16–34.5 kV low side, to 250 MVA. On-load tap changers, dual secondaries, and the relaying interfaces your protection scheme specifies.

Engineered to order

Auto transformers

Transmission interconnection units between 69, 115, 138, 161, and 230 kV systems, with tertiary windings for reactive support or station service where the system study requires them.

Process

How it works

  1. Send what you haveA configuration from the catalog, your specification, or a single-line diagram and site data. We return a quotation with a compliance matrix.
  2. Drawings for approvalOutline, nameplate, and test plan issued to your engineer and interconnecting utility; long-lead materials committed at order.
  3. Manufacture and witnessed testThe full IEEE C57.12.90 routine program on every unit. Witnessed FAT is standard.
  4. Delivery and energizationTransport to site, assembly, oil filling, site tests, and commissioning. Warranty and field service from Farpoint.
Warranty & service

Three years, from energization

Every unit ships with a Farpoint warranty of 36 months from energization, with the unit stored to Farpoint's storage procedure before energization, covering materials, workmanship, and design. Repair or replacement is at Farpoint's cost, including transport and site labor. The warranty is assignable to your lender or a successor owner. Coverage extends to five years from energization as an option.
